Volunteering With Us

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and make it possible to provide our service to the local community. They give their time, skills and experience and, in 2016, the monetary value of the time our volunteers gave was £146,000!!

We currently have around 26 volunteers who come from a wide range of backgrounds – young people, mums looking to get back into the workplace, professionals broadening their horizons and retired people who want to give something back.

Volunteer roles are many and varied and include Reception duties, delivering Generalist Advice, Digital Champions assisting with our technology and Social Media, and Social Policy volunteers helping with research and Campaigning. We are constantly developing new volunteer roles so need your skills!

“I had no previous work experience in England. Becoming a volunteer gave me the chance to learn something new and to help people at the same time”
Ilona, Volunteer.

All volunteers receive appropriate training and are fully supported and supervised throughout their involvement with Citizens Advice. Our commitment to value diversity and promote equality means we can encourage individuals who might not otherwise volunteer.

We make sure that volunteers are not put in situations that are beyond their abilities, and work with our volunteers to ensure that volunteering with us is both challenging and rewarding. In return we require a regular agreed commitment.
